GUM TREATMENTS

Gummy Smile

When smiling, exposing the gingiva to some extent creates a young appearance that is aesthetically pleasing. When smiling, a gingival show of 1 to 2 mm is seen as normal. Excessive gingival display commonly referred to as a "gummy smile," occurs when the upper gingiva is overexposed while smiling. In very extreme situations, the overexposed gingival tissue is noticeable even when the lips are at rest.

The causes of a gummy smile are multifaceted, and the treatment varies depending on those causes:

  1. Short upper lip length.
  2. Very flexible upper lip
  3. Overgrowth of the upper arch.
  4. An excessive amount of gum has grown over the tooth’s crown.
  5. Over eruption of the upper anterior teeth.

The pleasing smile:

showing at least the second premolars, little upper gingiva, no gingival recession, healthy gum filling out the upper triangle spaces, a lower lip line parallel to the upper teeth’s lower edges, the symmetry of the front and back teeth, and teeth with the proper shape, alignment, color, and shade.

Gummy Smile:

Dentists classify a smile as “unattractive” if the gum line is 4 millimeters or more from the lip during a smile.

Ideal measurements of the face:

  • The average length of the upper lip is 20 to 24 mm in young adults and rises with age.
  • The Upper anterior teeth are shown at Rest for young ladies, it must be 3 to 4 mm, and for young men, 2 mm; nevertheless, it gets smaller as you get older.
  • At rest, the usual interlabial spacing is 0 to 4 mm.
  • A standard smile line shows 75% to 100% of the crowns. A low smile line—which is often a male feature—displays less than 75% of the crown. Gummy smiles, which display the entire crown and an excessive amount of gum, have a high smile line and are typically associated with women.

Conclusion:

The excessive gingival display is considered an aesthetic problem.
The treatment plan depends on the cause of the gummy smile.

Adverse effects

An adverse effect is an undesired harmful effect resulting from a medication or other intervention, such as surgery. An adverse effect may be termed a “side effect” when judged to be secondary to a main or therapeutic effect.

Anti-inflammatory drugs

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), have potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activity, and are among the most widely used drugs worldwide.

Risks

In simple terms, risk is the possibility of something bad happening. Risk involves uncertainty about the effects/implications of activity concerning something that humans value (such as health, well-being, wealth, property, or the environment), often focusing on negative, undesirable consequences

Antibiotics

An ideal antibiotic is an antibacterial agent that kills or inhibits the growth of all harmful bacteria in a host, regardless of the site of infection without affecting beneficial gut microbes (gut flora) or causing undue toxicity to the host. Sadly, no such antibiotics exist.

Appearance

The face may appear shorter than it formerly did as a result of jaw bone mass loss. The lower jawbone may protrude forward if it loses bone mass. The muscles surrounding them and the lips themselves might alter their look if the underlying bone structure is unhealthy. The skin around the jaw can look wrinkled.

Sepsis

What is sepsis?

Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection. It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body’s tissues and organs. You cannot catch sepsis from another person. Sepsis is sometimes called septicemia or blood poisoning.

Tips for a beautiful smile

  • According to studies, smiling can improve your mood, lower your blood pressure, and strengthen your immune system. However, smiling might not be something you want to do if one or more of your teeth are missing.
  • The four front teeth, which you notice the most, should be evenly spaced. One lovely smile results from their symmetry.
  • The smile is incredibly attractive and sensual because of its large lips, defined dimples, and sculpted jawline.
  • Having pouty, thick lips makes you look younger.
  • Your face shape plays a vital role in determining the ideal tooth shape for a balanced and appealing smile. Faces generally fall into four categories: heart, oval, round, and square. Heart-shaped faces harmonize with rounded, shorter teeth, while oval faces benefit from square teeth that add fullness. Round faces are complemented by longer, more pronounced teeth, and square faces soften with rounded tooth shapes. By selecting the appropriate Porcelain Veneers shape, you can enhance your overall facial aesthetics and achieve the best version of your smile.
